ACM Weighs in on Outsourcing
According to a report released last week by ACM (a membership organization of 80K or so computer scientists and a former employer of mine) and noted in a New York Times editorial today, outsourcing IT jobs has not resulted in a net loss of jobs in countries where those jobs are historically strong, nor is a net loss of jobs necessarily a future outcome. The report has a more hopeful outlook about the effect of globalization on innovation, and actually calls for further elimination of barriers to global job diversification.
